Road tripping West USA, Day 13

Day 13

Solvang. Enchanted, surprising, mystical, hidden gem!  A dear friend had mention to me that it's a cute little town and if we had time, we should plan to stop over.
We "googled it" and thought it might be nice.

I cannot say enough nice things about this little Danish village.

We stayed at a charming Inn.

And the next morning we set out on foot to discover the town.

Solvang , according to Wikipedia , was founded in 1911 on almost 9,000 acres (3,600 ha) by a group of Danes who traveled west to establish a Danish colony far from the midwestern winters. The city is home to a number of bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California.

Including Danish chocolate

The architecture of many of the façades and buildings reflects traditional Danish style. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid Statue from Copenhagen, as well as one featuring the bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Andersen.

We had a little fun with the giant shoe
and with the Viking
and with hats in Edelweiss

and bought a bucket of cookies

And just had way too much fun.
